My work in progress of a short piece of animation I'm doing for my portfolio, it is by no means finished but feel free to critique anyway.

The parts that I've animated so far still need a good deal of polish and most of it is still in it's blocked stage, but I'm fairly happy with how it's coming along hopefully it should be finished in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed) and I'll do another work in progress update before I upload the final piece.

Thanks for taking the time to watch :)

@00:36cheers! I can't take any credit for the rigging though as it's not my rig (google Norman rig for Maya) just the animation. :)

@00:36That was really funny. Like it probably has been said before the expressions are great and funny. Modeling is good too. I really want to see the finished product now.

@00:36sorry here's a more direct link to the rig "norman" [link]

You need to have a copy of Maya to use this rig though, Maya is a commercial piece of 3d animation software and is quite expensive, most people (unless they have an illegitimate copy) only get to use this software if their school or workplace provides access to it. Here is the link to the Maya website. [link]

@00:36now i cant wait to see the final animation. expressions look great, animation obviously has a ways to go but it's definitely on the right track. This already had me laughing, especially the expression on the first guy as he hands the bottle over to the second guy, nice work!

@00:36Awesome! What amazes me the most is the work on the facial expressions; the way the eyes move, as well as the eyebrows and mouths too, and the way they interact with each other.

Cheers, I was hoping to get across that they were reacting to each other rather than just two seperate character animations, I'm trying to concentrate now on getting some fluid motion into the animation which is the next stage, then after that I'm going to try to get in some small incidental micro movements into the final polished version. Thanks for commenting it's good to hear your opinion :)

@00:36Actually I watched it again more closely. I think that the way they figure it out and the size of the pill along with the second characters shaking of the head made you realize it wasnt supposed to go into the mouth. I also have to say the eye movements of character one are just outstanding. I laughed :)

@00:36cool, cheers for taking the time to comment! :)

I do think I need to sort out the camera's to make it more obvious, it's hard to tell that the label actually says "suppositories" on this rubbish playblast :) I think at the end just before we get the reaction shot and just after he's examined the bottle, I'm going to do an over the shoulder camera so the viewer can read the label close up.

The fact that you had to watch it twice to properly read what was going on means that I haven't managed to get the punchline across very well, so thankyou for pointing that out to me, tis very helpful. (I kind of knew I needed to sort out the camera work, but being an in-game animator I don't usually have to bother with cameras and it's made me a bit lazy lol)

I'm over the moon it made someone laugh though, really glad you liked it!

@00:36I watched this before and i thought the facial expressions are great. The story line is a little jumpy because I dont think everyone will get that its supposed to be a suppository, although i haven't any suggestions at the moment to help you figure out a way to make that more obvious. I can't wait to see this finished.

@00:36this is very interessting! The facial expressions are brilliant and looks so correct and the character is so awsome and cute! Are you going to make them look more diffrent later or is it going to be one character playing them both? It will be fun to see the progress!
Thanks for sharing!

@00:36Cheers for commenting. :) I'd love to be able to edit the rig to make them look different and I think it's possible to edit this rig, but for now I'm just going to concentrate on the animation side of it and leave them as they are for the sake of a quick turnover. :)
